Khun Kanchana Srifeungfung, world traveller, educator, environmental and Thai culture enthusiast, has kindly extended an invitation to AWC members, family, and guests to enjoy a half day visit to her traditional Thai villa located just north of Bangkok.

Yen Jai (“Cool Heart”) Villa, situated in Pathum Thani, approximately 45 minutes from Sukhumvit Road, is part of a real estate project conceived by famous Thai architect and environmentalist, Dr. Sumet Jumsai. He named it “ Suan Sai Tarn “ (Garden of Flowing Stream) providing unique landscaping through the use of water to connect most of its plots. His concept was to encourage visitation by boat rather than cars, thus promoting his “water” theme for Thailand.

Khun Kanchana has enjoyed turning Yen Jai into a restful place for herself, and especially her children and grandchildren. She shares it is where "we can run, shout, grow and restore ourselves", as well as reinvigorate the soul from time spent in ever-busy Bangkok.

As she further relates, "This speaks of an unusual person--adventurous, carefree and verging on impractical—in my passion to find natural, local places to immerse myself in. My surroundings allow me to gaze at the skies, feel the air, sense life, see the reflection of the moon on the lotus pond, search for glow-rooms and hear cicadas making music. My collection of ethnic, farm implements and daily household items from villages stem from a deep desire to learn their ways, value their wisdom, and treasure their skills."

Khun Kanchana's creation of Yen Jai has been ongoing for some twenty-five years, and today she feels it worthy of inviting friends and acquaintances to come share in the peace, serenity, coolness and openness that her two and a half acre idyll offers.

Refreshments and a light lunch will be served, and art (for sale) will be on display.

Van transportation is included in the cost of the tour.
