AWC Fundraising

For more than 60 years, the American Women’s Club (AWC) of Thailand has supported a variety of charitable projects throughout the country. Millions of baht have been contributed to the underprivileged~children’s homes and orphanages, schools, HIV/AIDS organizations, self-help projects and emergency disaster relief. AWC’s primary targets are women and children. Annual fundraising events ensure we have the funds to donate to many and various charities in our host country.

While we were having such a spook-tacular night of fun, we also raised an incredible amount of money for our beneficiaries—454,180 baht to support iCare Thailand’s work at Baan Kredtrakarn and AWC’s Scholarship Program. This night could not have been accomplished without our members, friends and the sponsors’ generosity. We will be providing these funds to the programs and help those who are less fortunate.

This year's fundraiser earned more than 484,000 baht for  Baan Kredtrakarn and AWC's Scholarship Program. Thanks to all our members, sponsors and friends for helping make a difference in the lives of so many girls!

Donation iCare 2013We are thrilled to announce we gave away more than 420,000 baht to our chosen beneficiaries!

A heartfelt thank you to all our sponsors, members and friends who helped make it possible! ~ Beth Loflin, 2nd VP & Karen Vogel, Halloween Committee Chair

  • Bahn Poomwaet: This home for boys who are victims of trafficking is supported by iCare Foundation Thailand, one of our partner charities with whom we work closely.
  • AWC Community Projects: Much-needed funds are awarded by the American Women's Club of Thailand to underprivileged Thai women and children, with an emphasis on education.
  • AWC Scholarship English Camp: This weekend event provides scholarship students the opportunity to meet sponsors, interact with people of different nationalities, make new friends, and practice speaking English.

iCare DonationWe’re pleased to report we have given Anna Lillethun of iCare Thailand (2nd from right) a check for just over 279,000 baht. WOW! The fun you all had at CWL 2012 purchasing raffle tickets and playing “Show Me the Sugar” meant we were able to raise enough to fully fund the project they are now devoting their time and energies to in Northern Thailand~beds for children. None of this would have been possible without the support of our members, sponsors and friends! Christy Larson, AWC 2nd VP

On behalf of the AWC, I would like to thank everyone who supported the 2012 Gala Dinner. We gave 413,000 baht to the Education for Development Foundation (EDF) and 299,700 baht to the Ruth Center of Project L.I.F.E. Whether it was in the form of volunteer hours, sponsorship, purchasing a ticket or a fabulous auction item, or by simply helping us spread positive vibes around the event, we sincerely thank you. ~ Vicki Moore, President

Senior Citizens Smiles Project Report
EDF Sr Citizens Smile Project Report
The Education for Development Foundation, one of the charity recipients of the AWC Gala Dinner 2012, has finished the Senior Citizens Smiles Project which was tailor-made for AWC in support of the elderly.

With the help of many of you, AWC and EDF were able to initiate this unique project in Thailand. For the full report, please click here (report in PDF format).

In February 2012, AWC donated 770,000 baht to the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation, accepted by Dr. Kris Chatamra. A huge thank you to our members, guests and generous sponsors of the AWC Community Projects  Luncheon and the Wild West Diamonds and Denim Casino Night in 2011. Our appreciation to the committees and volunteers who organized both events, too. Without you all, this donation of proceeds from the 2011 fundraising events would not have been possible.

We are very grateful to all who helped make our 2010 Orient Express Gala such a resounding success. We were able to donate 715,000 baht to the Rural Ear, Nose and Throat Foundation to improve the hearing of people in rural Thailand. And the RCBS gave the same about the Operation Smile Thailand. What a terrific result from a great night!
Judy Kocher, AWC 2nd VP 2010
& 2010 Gala Chairperson
