2008 Gala Dinner and Fun(d)raiser
In support of the Chaiyapruk Foundation
What you can do to help...
In 1985 Dr. Cleopandh Soorapanthu and her husband, Dr. Somsak Somsugdi, established the Chaiyapruk Foundation located in the province of Nakhon Nayok, 50 kilometers outside of Bangkok. The Foundation is responsible for more than forty orphans, ages 3 to 21 and provides for the education of these children up to university level.
- Dr. Soorapanathu’s great grandparents willed 160,000 square meters of land to care for and house orphaned children.
- The proposed project will use this land to plant income-generating palm trees and tapioca plants. The expected return from the donation is 67 times over the 20-year life of the project This would not only meet those annual requirements for 13 years but also give the orphanage a much-needed boost to add staff and accept more children.
- The planting of various trees as proposed will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases in Thailand.
- With its Broadway-themed Fun(d)raising Gala, the American Women’s Club of Thailand’s goal is to raise at least 676,000 baht.
