Coronation Day Holiday (May 04, 2026)

May 4th marks the coronation of HM King Vajiralongkorn. The Thai monarch was officially crowned as the tenth king of the Chakri dynasty, Rama X, on May 4, 2019.

Following the death of his father on October 13, 2016, the designated heir to the throne did not immediately accept the crown. Instead, he advised the leader of the ruling military junta and the Thai parliament that he wanted time to mourn his father before accepting the invitation to ascend the throne. He formally ascended the throne at a special ceremony in Bangkok on an auspicious day that marked 50 days since the passing of his father.
