Donation check presentation to EDF in June 2024. EDF's Mrs. Ploypassorn (Ploy) Poolsawat (2nd from right) receives the donation from AWC Scholarship Chair Jennifer Williams (4th from right). The 1,890,000 baht will support 315 high school girls attend school for the year.
The AWC has partnered with The Education for Development Foundation (EDF) to administer the school interface portion of our program since 2012. EDF's highly qualified staff has administered scholarships to students in Thailand over the past 30+ years.
This partnership allows us to bring our mutual strengths to the program. EDF, under the AWC name, oversees the application and acceptance process, database management, and disbursement of funds to schools. The Scholarship Committee volunteers raise sponsorships and facilitate cultural exchange activities such as our school visits and an annual Art Contest.
We’re thrilled that this partnership maintains continuity, improves local communications and continues to support students with no change to the scholarship funding they receive. EDF is a registered, tax-exempt organization, so donations made by Thailand taxpayers are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by Thai law.
In 2016 EDF was distinguished with two 5-Star Ratings Certificates in the areas of Good Governance and Transparency as well as Financial Efficiency from the Giving Back Association. Congratulations EDF on a well-deserved recognition! Since 1987 EDF’s primary goal has been to improve educational opportunities and quality of life for less fortunate children and youths in remote areas of Thailand.
